from my studio in Hastings on the South coast of England.
For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to vintage and found objects, which are the inspiration for many of my new designs. Studying Textile Design in the 80s I started collecting vintage handkerchiefs from the 1930s and 40s. To me, these were small exquisite works of art, framed by the confines of a border on a canvas of fabric, each one like a miniature painting. They invariably had no maker signature, but I always felt they had an intrinsic value which gave them a lasting appeal. So my love of accessories began …
I love clothes and fashion too and I am fascinated by how someone puts things together to reflect their individual personality and unique sense of style. So the accessories I design add an element of individuality for each person – their style signifier. The way men and women dress now is more interchangeable, men in particular are more aware of how they style themselves. Every design is my own original creation, a mix of many references, each with a hint of vintage. Bloomingdales in the USA describe my handwriting as a “Modern take on Britishness”
The designs are printed onto the finest luxury silks, wools and other blended natural fabrics and I am proud to work with some first class manufacturers who print and finish my designs to a very high quality standard, here in the UK.
Ultimately I would like anyone who wears one of my designs to feel they have the perfect finishing touch to their outfit, a signature piece that endures”.
